Re-Routing Packages with PS/Receiver and PS/Ship

As many employees are working from home, the team at PS/Ship has created a process in PS/Receiver for handling incoming shipments that cannot be readily delivered to the recipient in the office as normal.

As many employees are working from home, the team at PS/Ship has created a process in PS/Receiver for handling incoming shipments that cannot be readily delivered to the recipient in the office as normal.

Below is a brief outline of the re-route process:

  1. A package is received in the mailroom using PS/Receiver, as usual.  PS/Receiver will automatically send a templated e-mail to the recipient, asking them to select the manner in which to handle the package (e.g. hold for pickup, scan and e-mail, deliver to desk, forward to address, etc.).
  1. Once instructions are received from the intended recipient, mailroom staff will be able to process the package according to the instructions provided using a printed form to track all steps taken, optionally using an iPod to record the actions.
  1. In the case that the recipient would like their shipment forwarded to their remote address, a button in PS/Receiver will allow the mailroom staff to quickly create a shipping label using the PS/Ship label generation tool.
  1. The complete chain of custody, including where a package might be stored for future pickup, the tracking number for a forwarded package, and all other handling information, will be recorded along with the original receiving transaction for future reference.

The PS/Receiver Re-Route feature provides a simple solution to ensure that every package is tracked from the moment it is received in the mailroom to through to ultimate delivery, including any intermediary steps taken along the way (scan and e-mail, hold for pickup and forwarding).
